The Sumerians were an agricultural civilization that permanently settled Mesopotamia between 5500BC and 4000BC, developing early cuneiform writing around 3000 BC. They were absorbed into the cultures that they founded, and remembered in their myth as their nobility. Today, academia calls their nobility “Proto-Indo-Europeans”.
