Madame Helena Petrovna Blavatsky was a Russian author who co-founded the Theosophical Society in 1875, which aimed for a “synthesis of science, religion, and philosophy.” The gnostic trance refers to an altered state of consciousness in which a person’s mind attains access to one’s own subconscious or the collective unconscious mind, often experiencing paranormal phenomena known as clairvoyance, telepathy, or divination.
